DADS MATTER

The effects of father absence are alarming and associated with many of the challenges facing society today. Your ability to create an environment that welcomes and engages dads in the parenting journey are critical to helping build healthy children. Just look at what happens when dads are involved:

  • Involved dads improve their children’s overall cognitive, emotional and social well-being
  • Involved dads reduce mom’s parenting stress
  • Children with involved dads are less likely to be mistreated
  • Boys have fewer behavioural problems and girls have fewer psychological problems when they have involved dads
  • Children who live with their dads do better in school
dad friendly environment

Developing an inclusive and dad friendly environment is a valuable investment of your time – both for positive outcomes in your organization/community and the well being of the children you serve. Involved, responsible, and devoted dads have an immediate and powerful influence on children’s mental, emotional, and social development. In short – every child’s ability to succeed in life.

Can you imagine what it will feel like when you create these results:

• Dads feel welcome in your centre and a valuable part of their child’s life
• Your organization/centre staff feel better prepared to serve the needs of dads and families
• Leaders understand the importance of, and provide resources to support involving dads
• Children begin to develop healthier behaviours and attitudes
• Families look to you as a vital resource and valuable support for their parenting journey
• Other organizations take notice and want to learn from your example / borrow your approach
• You help more children become the best they can be, develop good habits, and overcome challenges
