Fatherhood Matters in the Early Years Conference – update.
We are very happy to add a pre-conference event on Feb 27, 2019. Fathering in a New Land will have conversations around understanding and supporting newcomer fathers to Canada. There will be 2-3 keynote presentations, a panel of newcomer fathers, and the release of new resources. All the details are here.

Autism Awareness Australia has released “Dad”, a film about autism and fatherhood. Check it out here. And share it as widely as possible. Supporting parents with children with special needs is an important thing for us all to do.

As family structures become more diverse and fathers have been taking up different roles in the home, this study suggests fathers focus their involvement around developing expertise within parenting.
Paternity Leave in Canada
If the changing rules of parental leave in Canada, it will be interesting to see how the trend of men taking leave unfolds. This study makes some initial comparison between Quebec (which has had paternity benefits since 2006) with the rest of the country.
